Meet Sarah & Louie
Although she is currently on maternity leave you can usually find Sarah assisting with all enquires at the Gateshead branch. Louie who is currently 3 months old was very sadly diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 3 weeks of age.
Already being medicated up to 27 times a day. He also undergoes physio therapy twice a day where a pep mask is used to help expand his airways. Treatment is very expensive and currently no cure exists. We want to help raise awareness and funds to better support children with cystic fibrosis to BREATH with ease.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited condition in which the lungs and digestive system can become clogged with thick, sticky mucus. It causes problems with breathing and digestion and while a common cold may keep you off work for a day or two, it can kill sufferers of cystic fibrosis. Over the years, the lungs become increasingly damaged and may eventually stop working properly. Most patients are given a particularly shortened life span.
As well as recently donating money, Docherty wish to further our efforts in continuing to fundraise for a wonderful cause, which of course is very close to our hearts. Please follow us on social media and online for more news, and updates on Louie’s journey.

Well, what a long month January has been. Winter is a terrible time for those with Cystic Fibrosis, common colds can turn into life threatening complications. Louie made his very first version of the Influenza virus so he has been very chesty, and as a result has been on additional medication. As you can see from the picture he is still smiling.
We had our very first charity night and managed to raise almost £1000. Thank you to everyone who helped at the event, donated prizes and gave so generously. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Pat Simpson for his very generous cheque which was donated to the RVI Hospital along with our other donations. We will be raffling tickets in all our branches over the next few months and all the money raised will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis. The lucky winner will receive SF1,2,3 –H003 & H006 free of charge at our SUREFIRE TRAINING centre. Tickets are only £2 a strip and will be sold in branch from March 1st.
Louie is back in hospital and is currently receiving antibodies via an iv line in his head. Unfortunately Louie pulled the line out and gave his mummy an awful scare. He is fine and smiling all the same. Moving forward there is now a strong possibility that he will have a line fitted in a place that would be more permeant. The toy shown in the below picture is what the ward has purchased already with some of the money Docherty has raised.
To continue with our fundraising efforts, we will be offering a prize draw at our branches for the winner to receive the SF1,2,3 –H003 & H006 free of charge at our SUREFIRE TRAINING centre. This will also include FREE company and installer registration (for the first year) through HETAS. Tickets are only £2 a strip. This will be drawn in September. Please ask a member of staff for tickets now.
